Most students from group 22 spent 5 days at camp Nominingue two weeks ago. What a great way to start the new school year! They were accompanied by two teachers. It was an English immersion week during which students could take part in several outdoor activities. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I know I did.
In order to know what they really thought, I asked my students to write something about their experience at Nominingue. It could be almost anything: their opinion about the camp, an account of something that happened, a poem, etc. These texts will appear here as comments. (Note: students who did not come to camp wrote on a different topic.)
I never had a good week like that in my entire life so, I will go now to explain why my week in the Camp Nominingue it was very fun. I have one thing that I loved it and one thing that I didn’t liked.
Firstly, the activity with the eggs it was the game that I most liked in the Camp. Chloe, Vanessa and me had called our project Fish and we did the construction just with a butterfly net, two paper bubbles and some leaf. We won with two other project, Sushi and Garden and it surprised me because I thought we were never going to pass but, finally yes.
Secondly, the thing that I didn’t liked in the Camp it was the wall climbing because, I had a difficulty with height and also forcing with my arms so, I didn’t do the activity and I watched the others having fun.
Finally, I hope that you go at the Camp Nominingue one time because, it’s very fun.
I did not go to camp Nominingue
Friday after school I went to McDonalds with my siblings and my friend and her siblings and I ate two McChicken’s and fries. After eating we went to the park to walk my friend’s dog and play in the swings.
Saturday, I went to Montreal to go shopping for my dad’s birthday.my sister and I bought him Nike shoes. After, when my family and I finished shopping we went to a steak house in Montreal with my aunt and uncle. After eating we went to my aunt and uncle’s house in Laval to cut my dad’s birthday cake. We also did a camp fire in their backyard and we made smores
The last day of the weekend me, my sister and my brother cleaned the whole house and we also pout back the patio furniture in the garage and cleaned and took the water out of my pool. The last thing I did on my weekend was stay up until midnight watching Charli and the chocolate factory and baby driver and ate Poutine and popcorn with my siblings.
Last week I had a blast. I never had so much fun in my life, even without my cellphone.
I loved every activity there my two favourite ones were archery and craft shop. I liked archery because it was really relaxing. I also liked craft shop because it is like art and I like art even if I am not that good. The activity that I liked less was swimming because the water was really cold, it was freezing. I also loved when we went canoeing in the rain it was so funny and fun.
I loved the counsellor there they were so fun they made the experience 10 times better. Joanna and Maeve were very sweet. Charlotte and Phil always knew how to make us laugh. Richy and Jonathan were cool. Matt had a beautiful accent. Hanna was really nice too. I liked Grant too with his weird stories.
I had an awesome experience there it was really fun. I am not a camp girl but now a think I am. I am for sure going back to Nominingue (as a family camper) it was really cool.
The last week, I and my class went to Nominingue Camp and I had a very fantastic week without my parent and school class.
To start, the location of the camp was perfect with the beautiful lake and the nature. I very like to do kayaking and canoeing on the lake to see more of the landscape. The site where we sleep was organised in a half-moon with a tower, a soccer field and the lake to the left, it was very pretty.
Secondly, I went swimming a lot of times and I also did one morning first dip. We swam in the freezing water of the lake. I like when we take a walk in a mountain to reach a lake where me and Dominic jump in boxer. Another day, I swim when me. Mikael and Dominic do canoeing because we tip over.
To finalise, I really liked this week with all camp fire and the food we ate.
I did not come to Nominigue so I’m going to talk about my weekend who was really fun.
Friday after school I went to the Oktoberfest at l’île Lebel with my family. I did a lot of rides like the boat, the free fall and the bumping cars and I had a lot of fun with my sister.
Saturday morning I went to take a walk with my dogs and I came back in my house and did some history homework. In the evening I went to a family party and one of my friend was there. We were having a lot of fun and at the end we played in inflatable games in wish we had to punch the other without falling and it was really funny.
Finally Sunday I take it relax. I red two books, listen music and sleep a lot. The books I red was a Science-Fiction and it’s really interesting.
Have you ever spent a week in your life that you will never forget. Camp Nominingue was the week that I will never forget.
What I liked
The activities I really enjoyed were the canoe in team when it was raining because my fingers were numb and I was cold. But it was a great experience, the second activity I really enjoyed was archery with my friend and because I was pretty good. The third thing I like is the “egg game”. I was on a team with Arianne and Thayanne. The name was Sushi because with the construction, we made it look like a sushi. And with Sushi we won the game with Gaden and Fish.
What I did not like
Craft Shop was the activity that I did not like because it was annoying and I was afraid to reduce myself. The second thing was climbing the wall because I am afraid of the highs.
The counselors
The counselors were very fun and friendly with us. But my favorites were Phil and Ritchie.
It was my week at Nominingue. I will probably return to camp with my friend or family because I really enjoy the experience with my friends and counselors. Are you thinking that this can be a great week for you?
This weekend was one of the funniest of my life.
Saturday morning, I had Baseball. It was the fifth game of my 3 of 5 of my PEE-WEE AA final playoffs game. We won the game 7 to 6 in overtime. In the game I pitched 4 innings and grant 1 point. After the game we received the champion banner and took pictures with it. After the game I went to my friend’s house to eat because at 3 o’clock we had to go to the all-star game.
When we arrived at the field we did our warm up and after we started the game. I had one at bat in the game because we were 16 players and I was the last batter. This at bat I had a sacrifice fly. After the game they gave the trophies for the achievements of the season and our team won the playoffs champion.
After my game I had to go to my house, change my clothes and go to my brother’s ending season dinner. After we went to our friend’s house. We left their house at around 3 o’clock in the morning.
I really liked the week at the Camp Nominingue. I liked 3 things and didn’t liked 2 things. I’ll start to talk you about my 3 things that I liked.
I liked the all activities! My prefer activities was canoeing. My team in canoeing was Vanessa, Noemie, and me. It was really funny. The second thing that I liked was the food. Everything was good. I think that my prefer food was lasagna! The third thing that I liked was when we had walk in the mountain. It was very beautiful!
Now, I’ll tell you what I didn’t liked. In first, I didn’t liked the cold temperature. He had a beautiful sun but it was so cold. The last thing that I didn’t liked was the shower. The door of the shower doesn’t locked. Someone had to push your door!
Finally, I hope that you really liked my small text and you want to go at the Camp!
Last weekend, I didn’t go to Nominingue. But I also did lot of fun things with my grand-mother’s job. And of course whit my family.
So last weekend, her job had organised an activity to go carting. I did it only one time because I didn’t really liked it. My family did it two or three times. They really liked it and had so much fun.
At the end of the day, whit some other adults and other kids, we did paintball. The paintball was the activity that I prefered because it’s also the only activity that I can shoot other people legally. The staff that was whit us was so cool and funny. I wasn’t really good at this game but I really liked it and I had lot fun. I also made new friends that I’m going to see next year.
In all honesty, I loved every part of my day and I don’t regret that I didn’t went to Nominingue.
I didn’t went to Nominingue so I’m going to talk about my weekend.
Friday night, I went to the old Montreal with my sisters and my parents. We walked in all the Old Port and after that we went to Mc Donald’s. I took two double cheese, an ice tea and an Oreo Mc Flurry.
Saturday, I had guess at my house. There was my auntie, my uncle and my cousin with her daughter and husband. We had a really great time together. We talked, we laughed and we ate. I drank a lot of pomegranate sparkling juice that my auntie brought. I even had wine but just a little bit because it was a fourteen percent one. They left at nine o’clock and gave my sisters and I money.
Sunday was my uncle’s birthday. My entire family did a surprise party for him (with the help of my cousins). We reserved a room in the Continent Buffet. When he saw the surprise he was so happy. We had a really great family time. I can’t tell what I ate because I ate a lot. The only thing that I can say is that I was full after that. There were two cakes. My uncle’s one and my cousin’s one (because it was also he’s birthday). I was full but I still took a piece of my cousin’s cake. I think it was one of the best weekend of this year.
Do you know a place where you can miss school and do great activities with all your friends at the same time? Maybe yes, maybe no, anyway, that’s where I was last week!
My favorite activity was rock climbing because it’s been a while that I didn’t do climbing. I like so much climbing because when you are at the top of the wall you feel proud of you because it’s hard to climb.
The camp was really nice because when you wake up you can go swim and after you eat a good breakfast, every day we were eating good food.
After the day started, you can go to craft shop, camp craft, canoeing, kayaking, wall climbing, archery and mountain biking.
I didn’t do mountain biking but I do the other activities. I do canoeing and I like that because I like boats and water and I can’t do that at my house. And the second activity that I liked more than the other activities was craft shop because I am good with knives and I did a good sculpture.
When I was doing canoeing at the end we flipped off because of Alexis, but after we were ok. The second thing that I didn’t like was when Tamara threw water on me and I was all wet and I found that not funny.
Despite the things that I didn’t like, I spend a nice week with my class.
I really liked the trip to Camp Nominingue, because it was fun and challenging like when I did mountain biking it was exhausting, hard and dangerous, because at one downhill I almost died since I wasn’t braking when I was supposed to.
The food wasn’t that bad, but before every meal we did grace, but when we ate the snack we didn’t do grace and an example of grace was the tiger grace which went like that: grrrrrace!!!! Bang, bang on the tables. At breakfast we had bacon, cereals, fruits and other things and the snack were milk/chocolate milk and cookies.
Going to Camp Nominingue was something I will never forget about, because it was one of the best school trips that I did in my life. If I could go to boys camp I would definitely go, but it’s too expensive to go again. I definitely recommend to go there if you have the money.
Who would not like to go to a camp, whit their friends ant that you would leave the school for a week. Well I did went to a camp, the camp Nominingue. It was very fun. Especially when we went to do the canoe trip in the big ones. I preferred them because my team was singing while we were rowing and it was funny. I liked it to because of the staff, they were very funny and very nice.
The games that we did were very cool. My favorite games were capture th flag and the bomb because we had to be strategic. The activities were very fun. My favorite one was the mountain biking because I pushed myself a lot and because I was proud of me. The food was really good to. It was really tasty and we always had the things that we needed.
But there were things that I did not liked or find great. For example the weather was very bad but it was not the camp fault. Also the tents were a little cold but we had beds and good wooden floor so that’s good. The thing that I hate the most was that the water was so cold. When I was jumping in the lake I felt my body freezing and it was so cold that when we were in for a little while we cold not feel our body.
I really liked the camp Nominingue and I wish that the future students that will go to this camp will love it as much as I did.
Last week, I had a wonderful time at the camp name Nominingue with some of my friends who came with me.
The activity that I loved the most was Archery and Craft shop because it was relaxing and calm. Plus, I was pretty good shooting the arrow (In archery) and to curve my skunk (In craft shop)
For me, the hardest activity that I had to do was the rock climbing because I’m really afraid of high! When I was close to the top of the climbing wall, I was so scared to fall down!
The staff of the camp were so passionate and responsible. They were also all different. Charlotte and Matt had a beautiful accent, Johanna and Maeve were so sweet, Phillipe was very funny, Richy and Jonathan were so cool and Hanna was a bit shy but really nice! Grant had a really beautiful voice when he was singing and was funny too.

Me I do this last week and it was so funny.
I really appreciate the experience at the camp, the food was so good. My favorite activity was definitely archery because I think archery was the only activity that I could manage. My favorite game was the “egg game“. I was in team with Tamara and Anais. Unfortunately our project didn’t win and he broke during the second step. I loved the camp fire was so fun, the instructor telling story’s , we singing songs and It was so funny because some people did not know or they was not able to sing the lyrics. We looked like a little family. One the other hand I have less liked the climbing because I did not feel comfortable (in my place) and I am afraid of the height. I was impressed because I did approximately the half of the climbing wall.
My trip at Nominingue was very fun! Me and my class have done so many activities as kayak, canoe , archery, climbing, my favorite activities was the craft shop, which consists of cut some piece of Wood with a knife very sharp. I have very like this activity even if I cut myself 3 times… My favorite councillor was Jonathan because I think he look so cute. I have also like Joanna because she was so funny and she make laugh so many times. At every morning at 8 clock, we woke up for go to the breakfast room. The food was very good and I liked it so much. My worst part of the trip was when we jump in the water for an ability test… The water was very cold and at the second when I was in the water I was not able to breathe anymore because the water was a lot icy. I already miss all the councillors and the activities and all the food and I want to go back at camp Nominingue as soon as possible.
Do you know when you don’t want to go away from your friends and when you in that place you felt so good? It’s happening to me at the camp Nominingue.
The camp Nominingue is beautiful, inside and outside… Particular outside because of the forest and the animal and the beach. The first day I was in the camp, I was charmed of the beauty and the altruism of the counselors. They’re so kind and helpful.
I really liked to do campfire with my friends and the counselors. The blue fire was so beautiful. The blue taken the place of the orange, it’s was magnificent. I’ve really liked when we goes together on the lake in a canoe, the rain on my head was freeze.
Every meal we did “Grace’’ it’s a song we did before every meal. The song change to every meal. Example when it’s the time of breakfast we did the “eagle’’ and the diner its “abc’’.
The only activity I didn’t liked it’s the archery because I had a lot of difficulty and I has not enough strength to throw the arrows. I really didn’t liked the showers, there was only a plank of wood for separate the men’s showers and the ladies shower’s. We can’t lock the door when we washed ourselves, some girls was afraid of the others will opened they’re doors.
Imagine when you don’t want to go away, because you feel good in a place. That’s what happened to me when I was at the camp Nominingue.
At Nominingue I have liked to do archery and canoeing. Archery, because I find this activity is easy for me, even if it was the first time I did this. Canoeing was fun too, because I did this with my friends Noémie and Chloé. It was super fun! We have laughed a lot in the canoe, because we almost did tip over.
At the camp, I don’t have liked the rock climbing and the swimming test. I have detested to do the rock climbing, because I’m afraid about the altitude. I didn’t liked the swimming test too, because I’m very cold all time. When I have went in the cold water, I thinked I had started a hypothermia.
For conclude, I didn’t liked the showers, because the boys could saw us. Why it was just a plank of wood to separate the boys of the girls? I hope you can go at this camp!
My week at the camp
At the start I didn’t really want to go to Nominingue and my parents didn’t have a lot of money. But finally it was one of the best week of my life. I definitely don’t regret my choice.
The week at the camp was really cool and educative. I think that my vocabulary is enriched and I understand more thing now. I talked to people that I don’t usually talk to so I made new friends. I like a lot to take pictures because the landscapes were beautiful particularly at the sunset. The camp helped me to be more open-minded and to have the courage to sign in front of people.
The activities were very interesting and I liked all of them apart rock climbing. Its probably the last time that I did this activitie of my life. My favorite activitie was woodworking because I di dit when I was younger so this remind me memories. It was a really good experience.
Do you never have one week twenty-four hours a day with your class? Me, yes I did at the camp Nominingue.
First at the camp we did a lot of activity. Some was cool and some was not very interesting. But now a going to talk of the activity I liked to did. I loved to do the kayaking and canoeing because this was easy for me and I don’t turn over. I liked to do the rock climbing because I did it before and I liked to descend because is very easy.
Now the thing I didn’t like to did. I really didn’t like to do the camp craft because I already knew how to make a fire and we had trouble finding fire wood because it didn’t have much wood on the ground in the forest. I didn’t really like the game with the tennis ball because I didn’t understand how it played and I didn’t want to play the game.
When everyone else was at Nominingue, I stayed at school. I once did a similar trip when I was in primary school. We went at a camp called Village des Jeunes for two days. I remember some activities we did and I also remember all the fun I had.
When we arrived, we installed ourselves in our rooms and we went to the first activity. We went rock climbing indoors. The counselors explained to us how to make the knots with the rope and they showed us techniques to get to the top. I remember how happy I was when I reached the top of the climbing wall.
On the second day, we went snowshoeing in the woods. It was really cold outside but the counselor made us do a fire with things we found in the woods. It was still cold so we tried to make a wooden cabin but it didn’t really work. Instead, we went back inside and enjoyed the time we had left with some hot chocolate.

(Didn’t come to Nominingue )
My trip to Palm Beach Garden, this summer, was really nice for couple reasons.
First, because my sister wasn’t there but also because we were in an amazing villa.
We stayed in a golf villa at PGA National for one week.It wasn’t big but really pretty and comfortable for a small villa.I had my own bedroom and bathroom.We had a living room and a kitchen.My parents also had their own bedroom and a connected bathroom.
The villa was about fifteen minutes from Juno Beach.Juno Beach is the nearest beach from our villa.
During our vacation it was always sunny except one day.That day we went shopping at Fort Lauderdale almost all day long.The rest of the day,it was less raining so we went to the pool.The other days we went to the beach and it was really hot outside.
We also went to few restaurants like Outback SteakHouse and the Cheesecake Factory.
That was my incredible trip to Florida this year and I hope I’ll go at the same villa next year.
My trip to Nominingue
Last week my class and I went to the camp Nominingue and my trip to the camp for me was a great experience for me.
The first thing that I liked when I was there is when me, my teacher, my friend anthony , my friend samuel and a counselor named Phillipe went to do mountain biking it was funny because anthony almost died going down a hill for a moment because he had not break like phillipe told him to. For me at the beginning I kept falling out of my bike but then after I had no more difficulty with the bike I had a great time doing mountain biking .
The second thing that I most liked was when we had campfire at night it was really awsome . we were singing song like « blue lake and rocky shore » but my favorite song was when Grant the director of the camp would sing un canadien errant .The counselor would also play truth truth false they would haved a lot of wierd story . The last thing we would do at the campfire grant would tell a great short story that would make me think at night .
Last week, I went to a camp with my class and it was very special because it was my first time going in a camp. This camp was Camp Nominingue.
Camp Nominingue was very nice because we had different activities each day. We could have for example, swimming in the morning, rock climbing and we could end with archery. After the activities, the whole group would play games. Each night, there was a fire and they would tell us amazing stories and we could sing old songs that was in the book.
The food was always different and always good. The best food I had were the pancakes and bacon for the morning. The only thing I didn’t liked was the scrambled eggs because it had a weird ending taste. But the rest was fine and pretty good.
Before eating we always had Grace. What’s Grace? It’s like before eating, we would sing a short song and we would hit the table two times. We couldn’t eat before Grace. My favorite Grace Song was the eagle one
Would you like to do awesome activities like kayaking and rock climbing with your friends when the people that aren’t in your class are at school ? Well, that’s what I did last week.
The good points at Camp Nominingue was that the food was pretty good in general, the bacon is the only thing that I didn’t really appreciate there. The councellers were from different countries in the world so we could learn to understand a lot of accents. Back last year, when the teacher told us about this camp, I thought that we would just do two or three activities and repeat them a lot of times during the week but I was wrong, the activities were really fun and diversified.
We wake up at 8 :00. First thing we could go when we woke up was the dip, it is a short time where we can jump in the cold water of the lake so it helps us wake up in the morning. After that, we eat a big breakfast and we have to do two activities, for example climbing, kayaking, canoeing, archery, etc. Soon after we eat lunch and we have some free time in which we can do all kinds of things, like playing soccer and some little games or doing an activity we liked. Later, we eat dinner and we play a big group game like Capture the Flag. Finally, we go to the camp fire where the councellers tell us some stories and we sing camp songs.
